Today marks the first of many periodical updates of the project. At the moment, the MVP is still under development but we are making some great progress.
Our latest piece of work features a minimal friend list functionality, where users can find other people using the app and adding them as a friend. This in turn allows them to create new tables with their friends and start finding restaurants.
Development velocity has been adequate lately, delivering 1-2 tickets per week given our staff count (of 1). As much as I would want to mark a strict deadline for launch, I have lately been trying to enjoy the process more instead of nose diving into an inevitable burnout. However, it would be good to aim for at least an MVP launch before the end of the year just so I can somehow demo it to more people.
Another idea that has surfaced itself to me recently is to consult an external developer to see if we can optimise our development setup. There are a number of tech debts that I have already identified (which we plan to tackle post MVP), but I don't want to be stuck in the loop of over-engineering a solution and underdelivering tangible features.
Finance wise, we have been slowly drip feeding more money to the project. This past weekend we upgraded our backend services to a paying tier, just so we can create a staging environment for UAT and testing purposes. This could definitely be seen as an over-investment seeing that I am the only person testing for now, but it does hopefully eliminate potential confusion when we eventually launch.
